Miles
4 Mammograms 5K Run is a local fundraiser dedicated to raising
awareness and funding so underserved women of Parker County can
receive annual mammograms. Funds are distributed through the
Parker County Hospital District and all funds stay in Parker
County. All donations are tax deductible.
The 2010 Miles 4 Mammograms 5K Run was a huge success. Supporters
from near and far gathered to run for a cause. With over 450
participants, the streets of Hudson Oaks were overflowing with
runners, walkers and onlookers.
Since October of 2008 over 740 ladies and men have been helped with
screening mammograms, 150 Diagnostic mammograms, 24 Biopsies.
Over the last 12 months we have had 1 lady diagnosed with breast
cancer.
Race
day was filled with stories of strength, courage and inspiration.
Supporters of all ages showed Parker County that breast cancer prevention
is a step toward helping find a cure. According to the American Cancer
Society 1 woman is diagnosed every 3 minutes, and 1 every 12 minutes loses
their battle with Breast Cancer.
